Mrs. Irene Whyte, in a telegram she received Thursday.Sgt Whyte son of Mr and MrsCharles Whyte of Coryrion and abrother of Theodore Whyte of Warren. enlisted in the armed forces on FYi 14 1941. first going to Indian-torn n Gap for training and then toKi ki in the Aleutian island' wherehe remained for five monthsHe received special mountaintraining at Camp Hale. Colo., and then was sent to Camp Swift, Tex.He left the latter place on Jan. 1. 1945. for overseas landing in Italy. He was a member of the TenthMountain Division of the FifthArmv.Sgt Whyte was born in Condon, attended the local schools and was a graduate of the Kinrua Highschool, where he took an active partin scholastic affairs. The last letter recehed from Sgt. Whyte was dated Apr. 10 and he told his mother that he was looking forward to coming home soon
