Pvt. C. D. Hollis Tells Of Being Wounded in Leg —Wounded in the leg by shrapnel while moving up a hill at night near Trier, Germany. Pfc. Carl D. Hollis : 26, husband of Mrs. Laura Hollis. 109 Frederick street, is now recovering at the Ninety-seventh general hospital in England. He has received the Purple Heart and is recovering satisfactorily, according to a release“We moved up a hill during the, night and occupied a position overlooking Trier,” said Pvt. Hollis, a| rifleman with the Tenth armored division. We got out of our tanks j and started to dig foxholes when the Jerries started shelling.”| ‘ They were determined to knockout our tanks and the shells were!! landing all about,” he continued j I'One landed close by and I was I ihit in the leg by a piece of shrapnel After I was hit I was able to walk to Ithe aid station, about a mile and a half away.”Formerly employed as a truck driver by the Fepsi-Cola Bottling Company, Pvt. Hollis entered the army in December, 1943. He has a daughter, Bonnie Lee. A brother, j Pvt Harold Hollis, is with the Twenty-ninth infantry division in! Germany.
