Pvt. (. D. Hollis Tells Of Being Wounded in legWounded in the leg by shrapnel while moving up a hill at night nearTrier, Germany, Pfc. Carl D Hollis 126, husband of Mrs. Laura Hollis. 109 'Frederick street, is now recovering at the Ninety-seventh general hospital in England. He has received the Purple Heart and is recovering | satisfactorily, according to a release“We moved up a hill during thej night and occupied a position over-1 looking Trier,” said Pvt. Hollis, a jrifleman with the Tenth armored -division. ‘ We got out of our tanks |and started to dig foxholes when, the Jerries started shelling ” Ij They were determined to knock out our tanks and the shells were! (landing all about.” he continued, j :‘‘One landed close by and 1 was jhit in the leg by a piece of shrapnel * After I was hit I was able to walk to the aid station, about a mile and a half away.”Formerly employed as a truck driver by the Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company, Pvt. Hollis entered the army in December. 1943. He has a daughter, Bonnie Lee A brother,; Pvt Harold Hollis, is with theTwenty-ninth infantry division in Germany.
