SandersThink Spring,And Remember‘Tree Fund’The “Jacksonville Tree Fund’’ is on its way.Although the weather did not cooperate, several Jacksonville residents were able to “think spring” and remember the tree fund during the past week.The Pilot club and the Jacksonville Journal Courier are in the second week of the campaign, designed to raise funds for the purchase of trees to be planted in the city.This year, contributors to the campaign will be able to designate the exact location of where they wish a tree, or trees to be planted.Through a coupon, clipped from the Journal Courier, a contributor may check one of three locations, where he might like aU.S. Army Second Lieutenant Charles William (Bill) Sanders of Jacksonville lost his life in Vietnam Saturday, March 18 when he was killed by sniper fire from ambush according to information received by his parents here Monday morning.The serviceman was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sanders, 340 Webster avenue. He was a graduate of Jacksonville High School and received his degree from Illinois College in 1965.Sanders was born in Jacksonville on Jan. 29, 1942, the son of Harold and Anna Faye Hill Sanders. He is survived by his parents, and one sister, Becky, at home.The remains will be brought to Jacksonville.
