NUECES COUNTY TO HONOR WORLD WAR DEAD MARCH 22Next Sunday, March 22, Corpus Christi will turn out in full force to honor its brave World War dead and their equally brave mothers who are still“ Carrying* On’* after 12 or 15 years of bereavement. The city and all of Nueces county will assemble to dedicate the Gold Star Court of Honor as a memorial to the men who died in the war and a tribute to their mothers.The Gold Star Court of Honor is composed of a tree of evergreen crepe myrtle for every man who died, and at the foot of it is placed a permanent marker with a Gold Star, on it the name of the hero who gave his life for his country, with his war record engraved in imperishable bronze.The gold star has never been used as a symbol of the men who died in the service in any previous war, and for this reason was chosen for this occasion. -— Corpus Christi Caller, Sunday.The Robstown Cicero Wood Post of the American Legion, The Legion Auxiliary, the Robstown Boy Scouts, the Robstown High School Band and Co. 4iC 141st Inf. will take part in the program to be given. The speech of acceptance for the Robstown Post will be given by Lt. Col. Taylor Nichols of Austin.This motif was chosen by the Daughters of the American Revolution because each man and woman who made the supreme sacrifice for the nation in the war was designated on the service flags by a Gold Star, supplanting the blue for the living soldier.
