and not being allowed to vote. This is a red herring, as there is a paucity of men who want to sit on the board now, and only a small number who bother to vote. Most of the male members are only concerned with having the Y Center available for physical activities. Some even have keys to the building and use it as a private health club. What needs to be emphasized over and over again, is that the YWCA and the YMCA are two very different organizations, with different goals. There is very little duplication of programs. The mission of the YWCA is to stress leadership development, health, both physical and mental; childcare, camping, food service, handicrafts, and other programs that will meet the current andchanging needs of women and girls. The programs of the YMCA pertain mostly to physical activities. There are enormous pressures at this timeto have a single organization in the Y Center Building on College Avepue. May I state, once again, that there is absolutely no reason why the one remaining organization should not be the YWCA and many, many reasons why it should. But that is another story.Patricia J. Anziulewicz Bluefield, W.Va.Reunion setIt has been more than four decades sinceAmericans fought for freedom from Nazis inEurope, but the men who participated in that war continue to maintain close ties.I was a member of the 99th Infantry Division. We were attacked by vastly superior forces in the Ardennes of Belgium on the first day of the Battle of the Bulge, and we held the north shoulder at Elsenborn Ridge. Later we crossed the Cologne Plain and were the first Infantry Division across the Rhine at the Remagen bridgehead. We split the Ruber Pocket, liberated thousands of people from concentration camps in Bavaria, and were on the Austraian border on V-J Day, May 8, 1945.There were many persons from the Bluefield and surrounding areas who were in the 99th Infantry Division. This summer, July 16 through 19, we will gather for a reunion at Dayton, Ohio. Many men who served for the 99th are not aware of the reunion. We would like for them to join us. They should contact Robert Faris, Reunion Chairman, 1757 Speice Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45403. Or they may get in touch with me for additional information.Wash Hornick Jr.Bluff City, Tenn.To our readers:The Daily Telegraph will publish letters on matters of public interest.
