No Information On Local MarineNo information has been received on recovery of body or services for U. S. Marine Cpl. Dennis K. Fleming, a reported casualty in Vietnam February 14.His mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Fleming of RD 1, was notified February 28 of the death by of-, ficers at the Canton Marine Reserve Center, who said he had received a chest wound in an ambush attack in the Quang Tri province of Vietnam. “Fragmentation wounds from enemy mortar fire” was given as the causative agent.The 1966 graduate of OHS had been sent to Vietnam June 9, 1967, and less than a month later had sustained a fragmentation wound in his arm when a mortar shell exploded. He was treated in the field in the July 4 combat and had returned to action.Cpl. Fleming had enlisted in September of 1966 and had taken basic training at Parris Island, S. C., with advanced schooling at Camp Lejeune. N. C., and Camp Pendleton, Calif.The 20-year-old youth had been a student in the Diversified Cooperative Training program at OHS and a member of Vocational Industrial Club.Until actual recovery and final rites, a small spark of hope will continue to exist for the ' family and many friends of aCPL.
