S. Air Force in England. She sailed to Europe with friends in January, 1952, and subsequently found employment which onabled her to see a great deal of the continent. She visited Germany, Austria, France, Spain and Italy, during her sojourn abroad.Previously she was employed asa social worker in the Santa Clara• •county welfare department, and it was during that time she met her fiance, while he was a student at Stanford University.Mr. Lawson is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Lawson of Neenah, Wisconsin, and is a Stanford graduate. Hola-bird, in Baltimore, where thecouple will live following theirRitual of Jewels Performed By Beta Sigma PhiThe ritual of jewels, a formal ceremony, was performed at the meeting of Beta Sigma Phi, California Thetn Eta chapter, Wednesday night tc initiate four new members.The home of Mrs. Louis Van Meter, 195 Calvert Drive, was the meeting place. The quartet in-iitated were Mrs. Wallace. Bralich, Mrs. Robert .C. Brown, Mrs. Arthur Corippo and Mrs. Carroll Ornbaun.Following the ritual, Mrs. Donald Burns discussed “Speech,” a phase of the year’s study of Beauty. The course views speech as one of the tools of life and Mrs. Burns outlined four points—the importance of the sound of a voice, the growing need for languages, the necessity for speech, and tips on improving conversation.
