ROUGH RIDER (J1UGCJ.lie Will Leave San Antonio to Make Santiago -Da Home.Mr. John G. Grtgg, who went through all the battles with the Rough Riders In the late war. is preparing to remove to Cuba with his family to locate there. He has received an offer from General Wood as government messenger at Santiago and has accepted it. He is now having his household goods shipped to Santiago and expects to leave with his family next Wednesday. Mr. Grlgg enlisted with the Rough Riders when they were encamped in San Antonio at the outbreak of the war, and since his return he has conducted a tailor shop at the corner of Market and Presa streets.Mr. Grigg Ls the possessor of a bronze medal as a token of remembrance from Colonel Theodore Roosevelt. Every member of the regimen with an honorable discharge has on of these medals. The medal is symbolical of the Rough Riders’ bravery in the battles of Los Guasitnas, El Caney and San Jnan. and the names of these memorable places encircle the medal in letters of bold relief. A bar to which the medal is attached bears the name of the regiment and below this are two cavalry swords crossed and a pair of eagle’s wings spread out. which betokens the strength and speed that characterized the Rough Riders’ work in these battles.Mr. Grigg was a member of troop E. He believes that Santiago with American sanitation will be a healthy locality.
