Lieutenant Sheram, Killed in Action, Is Lauded by ChaplainChaplain Jnmra W. WrlRht of Hradauarters 6th Armored Division Trains, has written Mina Laura Pollard a letter roncemlntf the death of her nephew I4cut. Carlton A. Sheram. Jr., who was killed in artion on the 1th of January in Belgium.The letter Is quoted: It la with the deepest regret that I write this fetter to you. e.'.|ieelally since conditions have made It so belated The War Department has already Informed you of the death of your nephew. Carlton A. Sheram. Jr.. 0518441. who was killed In action on the 7th of January. 1M5. In j Belgium. It la my last wish that j I should add to the remorse and sorrow occasioned by your great 1 lava. But T do desire to remind you that your loss la also ours, and It Is our hope that you will permit us to expre** our sympathy to you at this time. He will never be forgotten as long as one of his Army associates Is left, for he was truly respected and loved by all—both officers and men—for his remarkable personality and character.May I add that as his chaplain. I personally knew* him and admired him for thoae Inner qualities of faith that he revealed to me on many Instances. He died bravely and courageously —‘he died that we might life.* He was burled with military honors In a U. S. Military Cemetery in Luxembourg, with a Protestant chaplain officiating.
