Although she received the second highest vote tally ever for a board candidate last November, she lost by a wide margin to Dick Keller.Now, stressing more vocational programs and increased security, she's trying again. An OhJone honors graduate, Mrs. Helm is completing degrees in political science and journalism at .San Jose State University.A part-time reporter, Mrs. Helm has covered the Fn meat Unified School District for the San Jose Mercury-, News.Other issues stressed by the candidate include a plea for increased access to the hilltop campus. She says the college should consider purchasing a small train to bus people up the hill from the parking lets to the classrooms.Further, she said the college should undertake a massive drive to recruit students, noting that the college emphasis is shifting towards serving older students, not just recent high school graduates.She said better lighting would enable more women to attend night classes.
