Columbus, Ga. —(INS)— Simultaneous raids on the premises of 24 Germans in the Columbus area brought about an undisclosed number of arrests and seizure of equipment which had apparently been used in making maps of Fort Henning, the nation’s largest infantry training center, it was revealed Saturday night.Specific number of persons arrested was withheld.F. R. Hammack. in charge of the Atlanta FBI office, revealed the seizure of a number of maps showing military and other premises classified as “key objectives of any possible enemy atlaek.The contraband also included photographs of military installations within the boundaries of the closely guarded Berming reservation.Cameras, including one equipped with a special long-range telephoto lens—used for making detailed photo-studies of objects a great distance from the camera—were seized, officials revealed.
