William W. Brow*.Mrs. Rose Shadrlck, 511 South Jackson street, has received an Interesting letter from her brother. William W. Brown, who is with Troop I. Fourteenth cavalry, now at Zapata. Tex. He writes partly as follows:THREE KILLED.“I’ve been in the field moat of the time and on the go bo much l*vg not had time to write. We had a little scrap at San Ygnacio. Tex., on the 15th. Three men were killed in M troop and two In I troop. Four werewounded In I troop. At thia time I’mIall O. K.LOOKS LIKE WAR.At present my troop Is at Zapata. Tea. We raav have tome troublehere. I don’t know, but things look pretty dark. It won’t be but a matter of time till we all go tnto Mexico, and I think that time ta near at hand. Everything look* tike war down here. We got out lucky In the attack on our camp the other night, the morning the Mexican# opened up M troop was asleep and at 2 o’clock in on their tents. All the men that were killed were ehot in the tents.LEAD LIKE HAIL.We (Troop I), were marching down the river and happened to camp at San Tgnacio with Troop M. W# slept juet where we threw our saddle* down, with our clothes on, and we got oat on the line pretty quick. It only lasted about twenty minutes, but It weelasted. Lead waahot whilefalling around u* like hail. If the Mexican* had been better shots, many of us would have bit the duet. They are very poor shots.♦ What do the papers In Decatur have to say about it?
