Kentucky guerrillas bad cmssrd the Ohio river and wore engaged in their desperate work of robbing and horse-stealing in Crawford, Orange, Washington and the western part of this county. The uncertainty ot the true condition of affairs and the contradictory andexagerated reports as to the whereabouts, numbers, doings and probable destination of the enemy, added greatly to the excitement and hastened the preparations for immediate defense, ubirh the people showedno backwardness in undcrslandimr.
