Editorial Correspondence*j Galveston, June 19. *65,As this city is I now filling up more rapidly, impossible, than jit was evacuated three or. four years ago, it is important that those who have any interest orj property fn this city should give it prompt attention. Soldiers under the United States iljigarenow arriving daily, and an unusual deiiiand lor bouses is created by the crowds of strangers as well as old citizens who are congregating here by every bay boat and i sea-going* vessel j as well as by railroad. The hotels and boarcjing houses are crowded. Those who propose going into business have no-time to los-e. It will be but a few days before eveiy residence and sjtore fit for occupancy will be engaged. Lumber, lime, cement and nails are ihe staple articles in demand, to repair the ravages of a four years' war, and large prices can be obtained. Ready made doors, windows, blinds. Ac., toe In constant demand at almost I any price, an alrfo cedar posts and pickets for fences, as ahnostj everything of the kind fn the city bus been j destroyed. Nobody need be j airuiu of overstocking the market with these articles, for it will; require many cargoes to supply the demand.;. But the demahd will not stop with a sufficiency to repair or rebuild the former buildings and iuiprpveineuts. It seems to -be the universal expectation that there will be a demand for extensive additional improvements, in the present prospect of a vast influx of population, and an j increase of -buildings beyond anything known heretofore; We may be disappointed in this, but such seems to be thefhe universal expectation which is fully justified by present appearances.The number of the United States troops that arrived yesterday by tour transports, cannot be less than two or three thousand, andseverai mure transport* are expected to land their troops to-day, {with General Granger among them. The public square and other parts ofthe city are thronged with them. So far as wehave seen, theijr conduct is orderly and creditable to thomsjelves as well as their officers,
