Death was irutaruta iu^ous. Qripskey was taken in charge by the sheriff.Oripskey came in th;s morning about10 o'clock and ©aid he was going t. gethis picture taken. Ho took dinner at the hotel. The guests noticed that he acted rather strange but as he is an oldbachelor and has always been peculiar no one thought anything of it. After dinner he got shaved and then started to take in the town. He went into the hank and talked with the cashier in a strange way and ©ecmed to bo following hkn around. Dr. MacGregor was in the bank and Ortpakey said, “Oh you are trying to chloroform me. you are,” and rushed out of the bank. He then went across the street to the poatofftce and entered into conversation with several people. The citizens thought by histalk that he was either drunk or orasyand proceeded to take art ion and havehim taken car© of. Mr. Glenn, the postmaster, took him into the office and tried to quiet him. Several people were in theoffice but no one thought of the man asbeing dangerous. After he had been in the office a f *w minutes he in some way got hold of a revolver that belonged tothe postmaster and looked into it to ace if H was loaded. Mr. Glenn had opened a drawer to look for some paper ami The revolver wan in tt, and while Glenn'sback was turned the man took it. An eye witness saw him have the revolver and when Glenn tunw d around Grip©key placed the weapon against Glenn’s body and fired. Roth fell in a heap. The ball we-m through Mr. Glenn's heart about an inch below the breast. He died instantly.After the shot everybody scattered butone fellow saw an opportunity to grab the maniac and did so. others came tohis rescue and they soon had fhe manbound hand and foot. The sheriff wasthen sent for and he arrived in townabout t o'clock. The shooting took placetwenty minute© before 2 p. m.Mr. Glenn was about sixty yeans old. He was a captain In the civil war and also a representative in the legislature from Franklin county. He was one of the best citizens in this region.
