■From Wednesday's Daily.Conrad Stephens died Tuesday even* ins about S: 15 at the home of his daughter. Mrs. James Davis on Etna .avenue, all or an illness of about three weeks. He was a Civil war veteran, having served in the army four years and seven months.Mr. Stephens was horn in Ohio De-eemher 28, 1835, and at ’ the age of seventeen came to this country with his parents who settled in the German settlement northwest of Andrews. Here he remained several years on the farm. Finally he began plastering and followed the trade till about ten years ago. After this he opened a fish sand on the streets and followed this several years.He with his brother, Andrew, enlisted in the Civil war in the 147th Indiana Regiment and fought side by side over four and a half years until their discharge at the close of the war. He was a member of James R. Slack post, G. A. R.t many years but recently dropped out of the organization. Mrs. Stephens died about eighteen years ago and since then Mr. Stephens has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Estella Davis.Deceased was a member of the German Reformed church and was well known not only in the city but in the western part ®f the county. He is survived by tot'o daughters,Mm. James Davis and Mrs. Jennie Snyder. Of the family of eight brothers only three are left, Peter, Martin and Andrew.Funeral Services will be held at the Davis residence on Etna avenue at 1:30 Thursday. Rev. A. C. Pretzer will officiate. Interment will be in the I. O. O. F. cemetery near the Whiteohiimb in Rnokorook tnwnshin
