S. Air Corps, formerly of Speedwell, Tennessee, lias been brought to the Cawood Funeral Home in Middlesboro for burial preparation, Major Alexander lost his life in a collision of eight jet planes near Richmond, Ind., Friday, June S. He was 2 years old.Funeral services have been set fot*'2 p;*n. Wednesday at the home of his mother, Mrs. . ,rWilliam Haynes Alexander at Speedwell.Lincoln Memorial University officials at Harrogate recalled this morning that Major Alexander was a student at that college from 1PM8 to 1941. He joined the Air Force shortly after the bombing of Pearl Harbor during his senior:year at Uie University. |Major Alexander received his pre-flight preliminary training at L.M.U. and his pro-flight foslrtaction at the Middlesboro Airport j under Jack Colson, He was de-.scribed as a good student” while at the near-by university.Major Alexander was a dose friend of Pat Williams of Harrogate' who lost his life in Europe during World War II. The ., two men took their civilian basic training in Middlesboro together at the Middlesboro Airport.During the last war, Major Alexander flew 72 missions over Burma.He is .survived by his wife, Mrs. Doris AiexaiWcVof Austin, Texas* and one son, and one daughter, John Hayes Alexander, of Austin and Barbara Jean Alexander of Austin.Other survivors include his mother, Mis.
