D. Lloyd Jor.cs, Adjutant of the 10th Wisconsin, was then iatioduced, who addressed the assembly in reference to the work before it. lie said, in effect, that all over this brwid laud the people, moved by a common impulse, were at this hour wending their wav to the “cities oi the dead’' withwgarlands oi flowers wherewith to adorn the mound? covering the sleeping dtisl of departed heroes, and with a pathos worthy of liis theme, described the hardship and suffering endured by our citizen soldiery in resisting the mighty efforts to destioy our Government. His effort, iu short,was a good one. The sentiments be expressed were patriotic and heartily applauded. lie was followed by Mr. Wat* cihou-c ia a well worded extemporaneous speech. The soldier's glares were then decoiafed by their living comrades, assistin' the school children and citizens. After which 0. II. Lamorcux, Estj, oi Plover, delivered an i idrcss to the audience, replete with p.itiiotic sentiments and flights of rhetoric chat.ict eristic of that gentleman’s oratory. The speeches were all well received. Rev Evans of Stevens Point offered prayer, and the ceremonies concluded by a benediction pronounced by Rev. Barrow s of Plover. The audience then dispersed, highly gratified with the day's proceedings, their resolves to ever remember the “boys in blue,” and be faithful to liberty and union,strengthened. The sentiment of ail was, “I am glad I came. We desire to make a note of tin- fact that Plover is the only place in the county which publicly observes this day.
