D. John Mar-key, commander of the 115th Infantry Regiment, asserted yesterday at Port Meade.The 115th. Infantry combat team, including Maryland’s “old First, will engage in overnight maneuvers at Camp Ritchie Wednesday and Thursday, following . similar maneuvers by the 116th Infantry combat team on Monday and Tuesday.Noting that “there has been some speculation as to the value of . Camp Ritchie in the present defense program/’ Colonel Markey said, “the importance of the camp is clearly demonstrated by movements of the kind we .are to undertake next week.'*;Camp Ritchie, on which approximately $1,000,000 has been spent in improvements, is located at the State Military Reservation at Cascade, Washington county, near the Pennsylvania line.Colonel Markey said the .men of the 115th Infantry combat team would ■ engage in a “motorized problem’7 in traveling to and from Camp Ritchie, which is about 75 miles from Fort Meade.On the outward trip, half the men will be carried , to Ritchie in trucks, while the other half set' out on foot. Upon reaching camp, the trucks will return and .pick up the marchers en route. A similar procedure will be followed on the journey back .to Meade.jThe men will sleep in pup tents their one night in camp. The following day will'be spent in maneuvers and that night they will return to Fort George G.
