Lowe, who was a Marine, suffered second and third degree burns May 10 in Quaog Nam Province, South Vietnam, when a candle fell into a gascan in Lowe's bunker.Pfc. Lowe’s parents, Mr. audMrs. Don Lowe, 1061 N. Fayette. were notified of his deathby a Marine officer from Springfield Monday morning.Pfc. Lowe was first treated aboard a U.S. Navy hospital ship and transferred a few days later to the Japan hospital.Mr. and Mrs. Lowe had been told by telegram that their son was seriously injured and being treated in an intensive care unit though his chances for recovery were said to be good.Pfc. Lowe was awaiting transfer to a U.S. hospital when he died.He had been in Vietnam aboutthree months before he was injured.Born October 27, 1P48 in Jacksonville, he was the son of Donald G. and Elouise Lowe. He was a member of Centenary United Mtehodist church and a graduate of Jacksonville High School.Before joining the service, he was employed by the Anderson Clavton Co.Surviving are his parents; a twin sister. Mrs. Willi im(Sandra) Cors; a niece, Kimberly Cors; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Robinson, and paternal grandmother, Mrs Margaret Wedge-hoft.Funeral arrangements arepending.
