Girl returns from tourPHOENIX (AP)—Debbie Pond, 18, of Phoenix, has returned after spending nearly $2,900 on a global tour to express concern for American soldiers missing in action in Southeast Asia.The trip was “very successful,” a tired Miss Pond said Thursday. She and 13 other delegates of Concerned Youths for MIA Families traveled to France, Sweden, Russia, Pakistan, Indonesia, Thailand, Laos and South Vietnam.No specific information was obtained on the missing, she said, explaining, “We didn’t really go there to find out about the men, we went to put pressure on them(world leaders).”It took two months for her to raise the necessary $2,500 travel money and $400 spending money, Miss Pond said When she returned, she said she had 16 cents.The group talked two hours with officials of the North Vietnamese embassyin Paris, Miss Pond said, but when visas were requested, “they said that since American soldiers had bombed the city, there were no accomodations.”
