A cluster was added to this citation following the group’s blasting .of an important enemy target at Wlencr-Neustadt, Austria, April 23,1944, against heavy opposition of Jerry fighters and anti-aircraft fire.The group participated in the first shuttle bombing of the Axis between Italian and Russian bases in June, 1944.
