48 Recruits Are Accepted AtBeaumontSpccia! to The News.BEAUMONT, July 25 — Enlistments for service in the CCC (tree army) were continuing here today, following acceptance Wednesday of48 recruits, who were dispatched to camp last night aboard a westbound Southern Pacific train.Capt. H. H. Spoede, tegular army officer, is in charge of recruiting. Eighteen white men who enlisted Wednesday were sent to Clifton, Ariz., and 30 negros to Fort Bliss, at El Paso. Forty-one of the soldiers” were from Jefferson county and seven from Chambers county. Quotas to be filled today include 53 from Orange county and 40 from Hardin county. Friday, 96 additional Jefferson county recruits will be taken in. Along with other white men accepted today, they will see service at Patagonia, Ariz. in aoil erosion projects.Port Arthurans enlisted Wednesday were: Joseph P. Cemcerios, Rosario B. Estorga, Elliott Le-Blanc, GusSie P. LaSalle, James B. O'Neal, Leland J. Schoppe, John Sedtal, Monroe J. Smith, Roland Tauzin and Cecil B. Wendling. Franklin J. White of Portacres was another recruit.
