Porter, of Toledo, for many yten Findlay »esld*nt, died in In accident In central(Afrl'ca. according to a telegram received by the parents from Ole war department.He was a member of a transportation unit of the armed forces of the United States and had betn Irt Africa since last fall. The wire did not give particular* of the accident, which happened Julv 11. He was one of five aona of Mr and Mrs. Porter, all in tht armed forces.Joel was a native of Findlay and wai graduated from the local high achooi in 1937. The family moved to Toledo that year and has relided there ever since.He wai employed at LaSalle and Koch's department atore at the time of_ his Induction into Che services. His wTfeTTheim* Fleshman Porter, who resides on Revere drive. Toledo, survive*.Besides hit parents, he Is survived. also by the following brothers and sisters: Robert Por-Itr. who is in the air corps, at Roeweii, New Mexico; Comer Porter, who 1* in the trana-Ktatlon corps, at New Orleans,; George porter, who is with the 105th infantry in the Hawaiian lilands; Lester Porter, Jr., an Hr cadet at Maxwell Field, Alabama; Mri. Marie Brannlgen. Cleveland, and Miss Margaret Jane Porier at home.Mr. and Mrs. Lester Porter rtslde at 4308 Berwick avenue, Toledo. The father was a well known business man and for manv years wss clerk of the Find'sv board of education.
