Garland Willhite Succumbs SundayGarland J Willhite. 68, for merlv of Sterling, died Sunday evening in the Veterans Hospital at Washington D C Garland Willhite was born June 5.1907 in Rossville. Ill . the son of Edmond E and Charlotte Stephenson Willhite He had at tended the First Christian Church of Rock Falls He was a World War II Veteran w here he served in the European Theatre He came to Rock Falls in 1922 and after the war he returned to Rock F alls to work at the carpenter trade until his health caused his retirement He moved to Washington D C to make his home with his daughter about six months ago He was a member of the Sterling VFW Post No 326 of which he was a Past Commander He is survived by fivewdaughters Mrs Shirley Thompson of Deer Grove. Mrs Walter (Patsy) Manning of Cheyenne. Wyo . Mrs John (Ma rian Houch of Andrews A F B . Md ; Mrs Betty Wol/er of Cheyenne. Wyo and Mrs Mar Jane Dixon of Houston, lex . two sons. Llovd of Kansas City. Mo- vand James of Princeton, one sister. Mrs Dorothy Bernice Mes senbrink of Omaha. Neb two brothers. Russell L Willhite of Preston.
