. row NOTESWe've been trying* to get through a paper to Dan Whpe-less, prisoner of war, but thepowcrs-that-be have informed us that a newspaper is classified as a parcel and jparceis are not being delivered to the POW's .. . . . Incidentally, CpI. Buddy Brantley, another Rocky Mount boy who * is a prisoner of wari apparently slipped one over bn the Reds. . . /Mpst of the POW letters make it a point to say how well the prisoners are being treated, the fine food, etc., and that Is easily understood. However, 'CpI. Brantley wanted to let the homefolks know that he was down to 96 phunds, instead of the robust *185 which he weighed when he went into service. Brantley couldn’t come right out and say that he hadlost 89 pounds while dining off 4''»t “excellent” POW chow, hut his brother had written a * • n which he said that heFweighed 125 pounds. In reply, Buddy wrote a letter from the prison camp in which he againnoted the fine f treatment, fine rood, etc. and wopndup by saying,that he now weighs only 29 pounds less than his brothef.‘■a
