BuIletWound Kills Helena Man, Age 80Despondent because he feared he would lose his driver's license, George Edwin Johnson of 11114 Phoenix, died Wednesday of a seif-mriielcn gunshot wound in the head. He was 8(kSheriff-Coroner Dave Middle-mas said Johnson left a nole in-dicating despondency He said Johnson had bid his v.: *t, Mrs, Roger(Rdna) Colton that be bad been asked to lake a written driver's lest and was afraid ho couldn't pass it.Mrs. Colton reported to Mid-dlemas that her \rhad talked of self destruction a number of times.Middleinas said Johnson left Mrs. Cotton's home at !:30 p.m. Wednesday and that his body was found by her at 5 p.m. Thursday when she went Lo his home where he lived alone.The lime of death was fixed al sometime between 9:30 p.m. and midnight Wednesday.Johnson was born Aug. 27, 1880. at I.aCrosse, Wis., a son of George and Anita Kolden Johnson, lie came to Montana in 19C0, settling at Little Prickly Pear Creek whore he ranched until 1114-1 when he won I lo work for the Northern Pacjfc Rail-(way as a machinist, lie also 3 had worked for Porler Brothers 'I gold dredging operations in the Helena Valley.Johnson married Gertrude Mary Pearce in Helena.
