Ritchie, Cascade, near Pen-Mar Park July 28 to Aug. 4, inclusive. These will include Co. A, Co. B and Headquarters Detachment.The 8th Battailon, comprising units from Hagerstown and Cumberland, will be in command of Lieut. Col. Crown 0. Diehl, this city. Major Marlin Thurmond, ew | this city, is executive officer of the battalion.Major Thurmond yesterday j I pointed out some of the advan-' -of camping out at CampRitchie. He said that it was one of the finest equipped small military reservations in the countryShaving been1 put in first class shape during the war by Tntelli-' emi j gence Division troops of the Reg-ular Army.The Guardsmen will- eat in a JjJ modern mess hall having a capacity of 2,000 men at one time. Cook-Iing will be done by electricity and all dish washing will also be don* electrically. It is expected china-ware will be furnished.There will be swimming in Lake Royer and various athletic program* during certain hours of the day. For two days the Guardsmen will be on the rifle range at camp shooting .30 caliber American Enfield rifles furnished by the Federal government. Rifle shooting an3 other training will be under direction of State Guard and Regular Army officers of the Third Service Command.The location of Camp Ritchie in the mountains win mean that evenings will be cool and will require the use of one or more blankets every night for comfortable sleeping. The men will live in first class Army barracks. They will receive the same pay as received, by Regular Army men dur-i ing the stay in camp.Major General Dwight H. He announced that Lieut. Col. George I. Harman, plans and operations officer, will have direct charge of the training program. General Mohr stated that between 1500 and 1600 Guardsmen would train at Ritchie.Recruits are needed for thethree local units and those interested in enlisting and going to camp should apply at the State Armory on the drill nights which are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
