Get Purple Heartson South Sea IsleAwards for Lowell MenWounded on GuadalcanalLOWELL—A South Sea island was the scene recently of impressive ceremonies during which two Lowell boys, veterans of the army’s campaign on Guadalcanal, were given awards.The two are Sergt. Herbert R. Hadley, son of Mrs. Helen Hadley, 216 High street, end Sergt. Raymond J, Labrecque, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph N. Labrecque, 62 West Third street, who were both awarded the Purple Heart.Hadley sustained hip and thigh injuries on Jan. 22, while Labrecque was wounded three days later.
