Word was received Friday of Bellwood's second official war death. The soldier is Lieut. Robert C. Snow, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Snow, 1017 Twenty-fourth avenue. The first death was that of William Fink nearly a year ago. There are several Bell-wood boys “missing in action” or prisoners of war, but only these two have been declared officially dead by the war department.Lieut. Snow, a fighter pilot on a P-38, crashed about eight miles from his base at Moses Lake, Wash., at 6:30 a. m. Friday. Few details concerning the accident have been received by the family except that Lieut. Snow had turned off the ignition before he crashed and that there was no fire.Lieut. Snow entered the Ait orps Feb. 25, i943 and after aperiwbfand commission. For neirlyua month preceding the accident, Lieut. Snow had been awaiting orders to go overseas. He was home for a short furlough in May and missed toy a week seeing his brother, Sgt. KennethSnow, who was also on a furlough from his post at Camp Stewart, Ga.His father, Who is employed at Newport News, -Va, arrivedhotne Sunday and his brother, flat, Ketoheth, arrived Monday.
