*Veteran Sees HospitalAs Dog Chasing His Tail(Editor’s note: Harrold Eugene Hiatt, son of -Mr. and Mrs, William D. Hiatt, 424 V2 North West street, is a recently-discharged serviceman. During the two years he spent in service, he watched with interest the progress toward, a Tipton County Memorial hospital and was disappointed to find on his return *lo civilian, life (hat little of a tangible nature had been done toward preparinglor construction. . •An announcement Wednesday that preliminary plans would be ready in 60 days has changed the complexion of the situation, but, nevertheless, Mr. Hiatt expresses his feelings in the unsolicited letter which appears below as they were before thisannouncement. His thoughts are still applicable. ^Mr. Hiatt asks whether the dog is chasing his tail on the hospital project. The question, we believe, is the crux of the entire problem.) \To the Editor of the Tribune: . , ^During the past two years, 'while I have beenim the army, my folks have kept me informed on the more important things that have been happening here at home. Foremost among them has been the progress of the project to build a Memorial hospitalto serve Tipton county. . ...During this lime, I received news clippings concerning this project. At various times, various groups and individuals have publicly given their support to such a project. Perhaps a little late, but still at a time when it /eems important td keep it on people’s minds, I want to contribute my two cents worth. _I can think of no finer memorial to those, our own friends and neighbors, to whom this memorial is to be dedicated. Moreover, strictly from the sandpoint of benefit to ^pton county, a hospital should be an integral part of our civic life the same^as our government, our utilities and our parks and schools I-have seen, at first hand, what a good thing, it can be I cite, for you. Culver hospital at Crawfordsville, Indiana, The argumentsihic rasp are too lengthy to be here discussed. __-However, on coming home, I find that considerable difficultyhas been encountered in getting over the hump and getUng the actual building started. Just last night (Jan 22) it anloulwed that plans for the building will soon be ready, so that ridding can begin and the actual work get started.
