Serve With Alliedmd M. uiaomaii^rank Destroyers7-731(1) TANK ■ DESTROYER BATTALION. (Special)'' — Pvt.Goldman 1). Antierson, security rifleman, and Pvt. Hubert M. Rudisill, a eanoneer, both of Pulaski, Va., are members of a hard hitting 773rd tank destroyer battalion. With their buddies they have kayoed more German tanks than any other tank destroyer battalion in Lt. Gen. Patton’s army,, it is reported.At the Falais-Argentan gap his battalion had a field day helping rip the vaunted Gorman seventh army to shreds. When the din and smoke of battle cleared from the rubble of a once great army, 335 prisoners, 80 tanks, and 190 other vehicles lay victims of their guns. Shortly after, the battalion swung into action again with the spearhead of the 79th infantry division in its spectacular dash across France, through Mantes-Gassicourt, Neufchateau, Chate-nois, Charmes and Luneville.Smash ThroughIn the muck and blackness of the Forest de Parroy, it was these same tank destroyers that smashed through thickets of trees and clinging mud to lead the division in driving the Germans from the forest and winning the fullsome praise of the commanding general.After a short stay with the seventh army, the 773rd returned to the third army to join the famed 90th infantry division’s brilliant and now historic crossing of the Moselle river that resulted in the fall of Metz for the first time in 20 centuries.
