Death of .las. Joscy, a Soldier—The Storm.Oo»')*lt;?#pomlcnee of The Lnnrirnnvk.Statesville; R-3, Jan. 14‘ — James Josey, who died at Camp Jackson of spinal meningitis, following an attack of measles, was brought to his home near Troutman Thursday! night and was buried at Bethel Friday, Rev. Mr. Connell conducting the service. Young Josey was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Joseyand is survived by his parents, five brothers and one sister. He was 24 vears old and had only been in camp five weeks. A very good sized crowd braved the storm of sleet and snow Friday to attend his burial, for although he was only a private, he deserved the same honor all soldiers who are doing their bit for their country should receive, and it is to be hoped that he was taken from our militant army to join the celestial army, where “neither is any more pain, for the former things are passed away.”Mr* and Mrs. J. F. Woodsides of Charlotte are visiting relatives an this vicinity.The phenomenal weather — ice, snow, thunder and lightning — Friday night, caused some anxiety ami there was some damage by high wind. We are completely marooned from all communication by tele-Vhone with the outer world owing to the damage to telephone lines in this section.ifj lt;c
