Attended the schools there, and also his home in Illinois He taught for a short time in the schools of Kentucky; came to Indianapolis in'Wj«V ’ V. . Returning, he engaged as general and soliciting agentwith the Union Publishing Company of Indianapolis. Togethe]-foHill, he pub lb* n'ed the Colored Business Dj^ectory of Indianapolis of . iS98/giving valuable in forma-tioji^concerning the advancement the colored citizens of the city. Some time previous to enlisting, Mr. Barnett began the study of law and was associated withj. T. V Hill. Since the Indiana companies have been stationed at Chickamau-ga he has been the regular correspondent for The Recorder. Shouldthe companies go to the West Indies, he will continue to furnishvaluable information to the readers of The Recorder.
