At this Itime $10,000 uas set aside forj it and a committee, composed of the governor, the state eommnn- ' Ider of the American Legion, and the president of the Texas Fine Arts Association, was appointed tosupervise the construction of the memorial.Moody to SpeakGovernor Dan Moody, the onlyex-service man who has ever been governor of Texas, will deliver the presentation address, his last official act while in office. Allpersons taking part in theceremonies are former students of jthe University,The tablet itself is sixty feet jlong and nine feet high, with aj figure of a woman representing Democracy in the center which j rises four feet above the rest of the tablet. I he memorial contains the names of 5,346 Texas men ami women who died in service during the World War. Around the edges of the tablet are the insignia of the various branches of service and the names of the fourteen major battles of the war. The j bronze plate has been placed at the top of the north end of the ! stadium.
