Corporal Meredith Schreffler of Somerset, now on duty in an infantry company of the 28th division at Camp Livingston. La., has been promoted to sergeant, according to official announcement of the public relations office there. Sgt. Schreffler was a member of the Pennsylvania national guard having enlisted in September 1940. He was inducted into federal service with the division in 1941 as a private first class. In February 1942, he was promoted to the rank of corporal, and his third stripe marks his third promotion. Sgt. Schreffler, in civilian life made his home with his father, Charles E. Schreffler of Somerset.
