, SP-5 LEE R. KINGJ • » *Vietnam Conflict Takes OHS GradTragedy of the Vietnam conflict struck home this week for the third time when military officials confirmed the February 5 death of Sp-5 Lee R. King, 21.Son of Mrs. Nadyne King, 20100 Lorain Rd., Apt. 422, Bldg. 2, Fairview Park, and the late Raymond B. King, the youth was the grandson of the late Ruth B. King of this city. He joins PFC John Klump and SP-4 Stephen McConnell as those having died in the controversial conflict.A funeral mass service for Mr. King was held this morning at 10. o'clock in St. Thopias Moore Catholic Church, and interment was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Cleveland.A member of First Airborne Cavalry Division, Mr. King was crew chief of a helicopter which crashed and burned while on a mission. Originally listed as missing, relatives and friends bad held strong hopes he wouldbe safe.Mr. King had attended grade school in Cleveland, moving to this city with his mother to begin high school. After graduation, lie attended Miami (Fla.) Dade College for a year, then enlisted in the service.Following training at Fort Benning, Ga., and additional instruction at Fort Gordon, Ga.. where lie learned electronics and radio repair for helicopters, he had been sent to Vietnam March of 1967 and would have returned next month from his tour of duty.He had served as a door gun: ner on a helicopter, and for action in tnc air had received an air medal with “V” last October, which he had sent home to his mother.Surviving in addition to his mother is a sister, Beverly J. Farnsworth of Luke Air Force Base, Ariz.
