He entered the army air forces in March, 1943. He is a graduate of the Joplin high school in the class of 1941 and during his senior year was business manager of the Joplimo,” the annual high school publication. He also was well known as a vocalist, active in sch-ol and church musical circles and formerly was a singer over radio station WMBH.Mr. and Mrs. Sweeten have three other sons in the army air . forces, Staff Sergeant Louis Sweeten, in ^Alaska, Private Jack Sweeten, sta-R. W. HOWARD, FORMERLY OF JOPLIN, DIES IN TEXASRobert W. Howard, a former Joplin electrician, died January 29 at his home, 330 Clark drive, Corpus Christ!, Tex., following an illness of six weeks. Mr. Howard moved to Corpus Christi two and a half years ago and had been in ill health for some time. He was a charter- member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, local No. 95, of Joplin and also was a member of the Masonic lodge. Funeral services and burial were held at Corpus Christi. Surviving are his widow; a son, C. O. Howard, of the home, and a grandson, C. G.
