Stephen D. Smith.Died, at his home near Gun-town, Mis9., February 8. 1913. Stephen Dennison Smith, in his 79th year.He was born in Murry County,Tennessee, June 27,1834. When he was about five years of age his parents moved to Mississippi and settled on the section of land on which he has .lived and died.He was a Confederate Veteran, and no braver soldier ever fought in defense of his country. He enlisted in the army at the beginning of the war—was Orderly Sergeant of Company E, 2nd Mississippi Regiment. Was severely wounded Jin the battle of Sharpsburg; was captured at Gettysburg, remained a prisoner at Ft. Delaware till the close of the war.
