MARLENE SAUNDERS GRABS REBOUND Sophia’s Audrey Cunningham (10) Eyes StealSophia Girls Top Eaglettes, 33-31The Sophia High School Girls’ basketball team held off a last’quarter push by Woodrow Wilson to record a 33 - 31 victory over theEaglettes here Wednesday afternoon.The Sophia girls remained unbeaten with their second victory over Beckley this seaon, the only team to hand Woodrow a loss.Beckley trailed 31-25 midway through the final period before the girls made their surge. Baskets by Kim Pck and MarleneSaunders cut the lead and Linda Torian drilled in a followup shot to make it 33-31 with 2:35 to go.Both teams had their chances to score, but neither could get the ball through the basket. A final attempt by Beckley came too* late.The Eaglettes were on top at halftime 20-17. But they lost the lead and trailed by as much as eight points.Saunders put in 17 points for Beckley, while Kim Hunt was high for theSophians with 12 oints.
