Meadows Calls for WAC Volunteers As Casualty Lists LenState Hospital Companies to Be Formed During February Drive9v■4rHEREAS, lit-e successful proecuticm of the war requiresnot only the further enrollment of the able-bodied man£i • II!:Aff-•power, but the quickest possible rehabilitation of the thousands of casualties that are being returned at this stage of the conflict; and whereas, I have received from Gin. George C. Mar-■all, chief of staff of the United States army, a cormnunication resmng the imperative needs of this critical phase of the war; and . . . Now, therefore, I, Clarence W. Meadows, governor of the stale of West Virginia, do hereby proclaim the month of\ February, 10^, as women's army corps enlistment month ml West Virginia, and do hereby call for volunteers from the state West Virginia for enlistment in the women’s ai*nvy corps for service in United Stales army hospitals. . . . Thus by proclamation Gov, Meadows has announced the opening of a campaign to recruit women for women's army corps hospital companies to aerve at Aehford General hospital, White Sulphur Springs; New-D. feaker General hospital, Martinsburg, and other army ospital* from coast to coast.
