Miller Corset Plant Receives Order for 65.000 ParachutesMiller Corsets, Inc., has received order for 05,000 silk signal flare parachutes, production to startwithin a few days, it was announced today by President Frank W. Miller.The order is a cub-contract for the U. 8. Army and calls for chutes24 inches wide, octagonal in shape, capable of carrying a two and one-half pound flare. This signal equipment is fired from a trench mortar, various colors being used to indicate certain maneuvers.Mr. Miller said that manufacture the r»hut(.i will be largely by hand and as far as personnel is concerned, it will be necessary toengage only 15 or 18 young womenin addition to the regular forceto complete the order.Production will not be started for a few days, possibly next week when a shipment of silk is expect ed, he said. It will require about two months to finish.In connection with war and de fense orders. Lisk Manufacturing Company yesterday shipped to New York City 5.000 galvanized pails ordried for the city defense program President C. C. Keehn announced The Lifric Company also has beenfilling miscellaneous orders, including cooking pots for the am munition depot at Kendaia, am'pails, strainers, kettles, etc.. use'in the dairy business, a priority having been issued for productiorfor this industry.
