October 3 184't and was married tlt; Miss Mar) Anne Hay. who survives him. in July, IsSir, Hi ughii n s* rvcd with distinction In Company B of the Voluu-teer Infantry during the Civil war and was wounded during one of the . engagements of that conflict. JThe deceased comes from an old Montrose family, his step-father having been stationed there with the dragoons as early as 18:f4. During the Joliet-Marquette commemoration tills summer, Mr. Houghton took n prominent part.The funeral aervices were hold this afternoon from the Latter Day Saints' chtin h. the \m«*rlcua Legion having charge.
