Saturday, Dec. 21, 1948Railroad Executive To Retire Dec. 31Garnett King will retire Dec. 31 from the post of assistant general passenger agent of the Southern Pacific in Oakland. Calif., ending47 years of railroading.Mr. King started his railroad career with the Arizona and New Mexico Railway at Clifton, Artz„ in 1809, and in 1903 joined the El Paso and Southwestern at El Paso. He was general passenger agent for that railroad at El Paso ln 1923 when he was transferred to San Francisco as assistant traffic manager.When the E.P.S.W. was consolidated with the S. P. in 1924, Mr. King was appointed assistant to the passenger traffic manager in San Francisco.
