RENO EVENING GAZETTENEWS OF TOPAZTOLD IN BRIEFTOPAZ, Calif., Dec. 19 —Mrs. Ida Nutting of Olympia, Wash., has returned to the valley and is staying with Mrs. Hawkey at the Coleville inn.Mr and Mrs. Hugh B. Winemil-ler, accompanied by Arthur A. Pitts, were Reno business visitors the first of this week.The play, “Aaron Slick from Punkm Crick,” put on by toe high school students of Smith valley at the Coleville hall Saturday evening, was well attended and greatly enjoyed. A dance and supper sponsored by the Coleville high school girls of the GAA followed.John Aristo, who attends Sacramento junior college, is home for the Christmas vacation.Mrs. Anna Sonnesyn and son, Karl, of Sonnesyn lodge went toJoseph A. Schwalb, Charles W. Smith, Charles C. Teague and Irving J. Woodm.Reno Monday, returning in the evening.The newly organized singing class under the leadership of Mrs. Palm met at the high school last Wednesday evening with about twenty persons in attendance.Miss Edna Sarman of Gardner-ville spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sarman at Topaz.Mrs. Arthur Province and her brother, James Olds of Coleville, received word that their mother, Mrs. Olds, in southern California was ill with pneumonia but last j reports are that she is slightly improved.Mrs. Arthur A. Pitts and Glenn Pitts went to Gardnerville after school Thursday of last week when Glenn had the cast removed from his arm.Miss Agnes Gruman spent the weekend m Reno.George Silvester returned home last week, but Mrs Silvester remained m Roseville to be with her mother, who although somewhat improved in health, is stili confined to her bed.Mrs. Flora Powell was a Reno visitor this week.Saibert and Pete Brown and Andy and Howard Garrison were home on a short furlough visitingtheir parents, but were called back to the training camp.Mr. and Mrs. Tockey of Bridgeport, accompanied by their son, Darwin, who is attending high school at Coleville, went to Reno one day last week, *--GROWING AMERICANSPeople in the United States are getting taller, and the standard bed length eventually will have to be increased, according toscientists. * —MAGIC FOUNTAINSFountains that turn on at the sound of a human voice are used in several large cities.
