Kenneth en listed in the Ma rines. early this month at Des Mc-ines and remarked at the time that he was anxious to get at the Japs and give them a taste of what they gave Bataan and broth er Glenn. Bob Malesch left December 10 for the Army and those are all the young men. the Beyers have to give.Glenn -was 23 years of age when the Japs caught the boys on Corrigedor. Kenneth is 20 years old. Robert Malesch has made his home with' the Beyers for the past five years and won a place in the hearts of. his benefactors with his' ready smile and willing work. 'In a. letter received this- week from Kenneth, the Beyers read, ‘The Marines are tough. When people 'say that the- boys’ have it hard in the Army, tell them that the Marines are in the toughest branch of the service. We will be in .the “bootf’eamp for 7 weeks and are not allowed to leave the camp for one minute. Routine and discipline require the strictest rules in the (boot camp. Our base is located next to a large air base. All one hears the day through is the roar of bombers and purs-uit ships. It creates an atmosphere of great activity not found in Orange Qity and it makes one ifeel as part .of a great movement to bring peace to theworld.-
