The Governor says evidence cornea op from every part of the State that many of the wives, children, and parents of our soldiers are destitute of the necessaries of life, and must greatly suffer unless immediately provided for. He again earnestly entreats the patriotic and Christian people of Indiana to devote themselves at once to making an ample provision for all who are dependent upon our soldiers, urging them not to wait until they are called upon, but to go about in their several communities and seek out the needy and the suffewng. He special-*-ly entreats the clergy of the various denominations, to address themselves systematically to the great work, and by thorough visitation and inquiry, make themselves acquainted with every ease of need, and then make earnest appealsto their congregations to supply the wants. The vaxious county and city authorities are also appealed to to make ample appropriations for the relief of the soldiers’ families. Every consideration of patriotic duty enjoins it upon our authorities and our citisens that no soldier’s family shall be permitted to want for the necessaries and comforts of life in a State overflowing with abundance.
