Memorial Day Services Held ToHonor Dead Of World War IIImpressive were the special Memorial Services held at Post Theatre No. 1, Sunday, Dee. 3, for the families of casualties of World War 2, living in the Fort Huachuca area.Although a small number of soldiers and civilians attended, they left the service with a deep sense of obligation to and reverence for those who had laid down their lives for them in order that they might know peace and enjoy the blessings of prosperity within this, their country.The Post band opened the service with a selection, and a hymn, “Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty,’* followed. Invocation was read by Rev. I C. Snowden and the WAC chorus softly sang: “Precious Lord, Lead Me On.”After the 23rd Psalm, “The Lord Ls My Shepherd,’5 was read, Cpl. Wells played the selection, “God Will Take Care of You,” as a trombone solo, which was followed by a short sermon stressing faith in the after-life, by Chaplain A. C. Haines.A hymn, “My Faith Looks Up To Thee.” followed the sermon, and Post Commander Col. E. N. Hardymade a brief talk in which he t pointed out the propriety of paying c homage to the gallantry of our sol- J diers and the duty that devolves { upon non-combatants in carrying j the war to its conclusion as speedily as possible.Sgt. Alexander Gordan then read the names of those servicemen in this area who had made the supreme sacrifice for their country, j after which taps were sounded by j Pvt. Raymond Tate.
