SGT. FREDDIE THOMPSONSGT. FREDDIE L THOMPSON RECEIVES AIR FORCE MEDALStaff Sergeant Freddie L. Thompson, son of Mrs. Nellie Thompson of 2805 PinebluffDr., Dallas, has received the U. S. Air Force Commendation Medal at Lowry AFB, Colo.Sergeant Thompson was decorated for meritorious service as a technical instructor with a field training detachment at Perrin AFB, Texas, and Sheppard AFB, Texas.The sergeant is now an assigned to the 3427th StudentSquadron at Lowry AFB, Colo.A 1952 graduate of Mesquite Texas High School, he has studied at East Carolina College, Greenville, N. C.His wife, Glenda, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. MattKasner of 112 Steven St.,Bridgeport, Texas., December 6,1968tensive two-year study of the food industry from the producer to the consumer. He attended the United Nations Foreign Agriculture Conference in Rome, and while in Europe, studied the agriculture of several Iron Curtain countries at the request of the House Agriculture Committee.Much of his time is devoted to legislation aimed at feeding the starving peoples of the world. Congressman Purcell is the sponsor of legislation tomake farm life more profitable, so that young people will remain in the agricultural segment of our society.While a 4-H member, the Congressman was selected as the first Gold Star Boy in Archer County. During his 4-H career he showed the reserve champion steer in the District 4-H and FFA Steer Show in Wichita Falls.As an ardent supporter of 4-H, he makes numerous talks to club award groups throughout the year. The door to his office is always open to visiting Texas 4-H*ers, Boy Scouts and high school students traveling to Washington.Congressman Purcell received his B.S. degree in animal husbandry at Texas AM University. His education was interrupted by service as an Army combat officer during World War II. He completed his education following the war, receiving his LL. B degree at Baylor University.Congressman and Mrs. Purcell reside at 9026 Old Mount Road, Alexandria, Va. They have four children, Blaine, 19, a sophomore in veterinary med-iririt* at Ten as AM* KirU 17
